Frog Teacher Awards Terms and Conditions
LAST UPDATED: 11 JUNE 2014

1. Introduction. 

The Frog Teacher Awards 2014 (“the Awards”) is the first nominated awards organised
by FrogAsia to which FrogAsia intends but does not undertake to organize the Awards (hereinafter
“FrogAsia” which shall include all its affiliates, principals, sponsors, authorized agents, licensees,
representatives and assigns) in partnership with YTL Foundation to honour excellent 1BestariNet
teachers in Malaysian public schools. In line with Teacher’s Day on 16 May 2014, we are giving all
1BestariNet ID holders the opportunity to show their appreciation for all 1BestariNet teachers by
nominating them for any of our eight award categories. The winners of each category will be given
exclusive prizes and their stories will be published on the Frog Channels. For purposes herein, “Frog
Channels” shall mean any and all interfaces between 1Bestarinet ID holders and/or the public and
FrogAsia from which such stories and any other content and materials submitted, created or developed
for purposes of the Awards can be made available, including the virtual learning environment known as
“Frog VLE” or “Frog”, an internet portal operated by FrogAsia, and its online store “FrogStore”.


2. Terms and Conditions. 

2.1 By participating in this Contest, the Participant and the Nominee (hereinafter defined) expressly
confirms having read and fully understood all the terms and conditions herein and agrees to be bound
by these Terms and Conditions at all times. Before proceeding with your participation for the Awards,
please read the Terms and Conditions herein including our Personal Data Protection Policy and any
other terms posted on FrogAsia’s websites carefully. These Terms and Conditions form the basis of the
contract between you and FrogAsia and any term sought to be imposed by the Participant and/or
Nominee in any form of correspondence will not form part of the contract.

2.2 FrogAsia reserves the right at any time to change amend delete or add to these Terms and
Conditions including to postpose or re-schedule the Awards including revise, change disqualify or
substitute any of the Nominees and the Winners under the Awards (even after commencement of the
Awards nomination period and/or after the announcement of the Award’s Winners) and to revise
change or alter the mechanism and judging criteria of the Awards at its sole discretion without prior
notice.

2.3 FrogAsia may suspend postpone cancel or terminate the Awards and the participation of any
Participant and/or Nominee at its absolute discretion in which case, FrogAsia may elect not to carry on
with the Awards. Such suspension postponement or cancelation will not give rise to any claim by the
Participant and/or the Nominee and FrogAsia shall not be liable for any expenditure, damage or loss
incurred by the Participant and/or the Nominee.

2.4 Participants who are under 18 years of age as at 16 June, 2014 must obtain the prior consent of

(i) their parent or legal guardian in order to be eligible to nominate the Nominee for the Awards. It is the
responsibility of parents and/or legal guardian to monitor their children’s participation for the Awards;
and

(ii) the Nominee that they are nominating in any of the categories under the Awards.

3. Eligibility. 

3.1 The nominee for the Awards is open to all 1BestariNet ID holders who are teachers (“Nominee”)
and participants who are eligible to nominate a Nominee for any of the Award categories are as follows:

(a) Any 1BestariNet ID holder who is a parent and student is eligible to nominate a Nominee; and
(b) Any 1BestariNet ID holder who is a teacher may nominate another Nominee or they can nominate themselves for the Awards.hereinafter referred to collectively as “Participants”. Please note that purposes herein

(i) “Participant” shall mean any 1BestariNet ID holder who is a parent, student or teacher who
nominates a Nominee for any of the award categories for the Awards including any 1BestariNet
ID holder who is a teacher and nominates himself / herself for the Awards; and

(ii) “1BestariNet ID holder” shall mean students, teachers and parents who have been given a valid
unique user identity under the 1BestariNet program (established by the Malaysian Ministry of
Education) for access to the Frog Channels (“1BestariNet ID”) and who are bound (or deemed to
be bound) by the Frog Acceptable Use Agreement. Capitalised words which are not defined
herein shall have the same meaning as prescribed in the Frog Acceptable Use Agreement.

3.2 The criteria for nomination for the Awards is as follows:

(i) A Nominee must be a teacher who is a 1BestariNet ID holder;

(ii) The Participant must submit all materials required (screenshots, photos, videos, 300-word
description) in the Nomination Form as set forth in Clause 6 hereunder; and

(iii) The Participant must provide names and contact details of two (2) adult referees (either a
1BestariNet ID holder who is a parent or a teacher above 21 years of age) who can vouch for
the Nominee.

4. Awards Period 

The Awards nomination period is from 16 May 2014 - 16 June 2014. The Participants can nominate the
Nominee by filling up a nomination form available on the campaign site
(www.frogasia.com/teacherwards) (“Nomination Form”) before 11.59pm MYT, 16 June 2014.

5. Nomination Process - How to Participate 

5.1 For the participant to qualify to nominate a Nominee for the Awards, the participant shall be
required to go through the following nomination process:-

1. Commencing from 16 May 2014 - 16 June 2014, please visit www.frogasia.com/teacherawards;
2. Click on the "Nominate" tab;
3. Click on the Awards category button that you want to nominate a Nominee for;
4. Fill up the Nomination Form with the information required. If you are required to submit material(s)
from the Nominee, do request the Nominee to provide such materials to you to enable you to attach /
add it into the Nomination Form;
5. Any photos or screenshots required will need to be uploaded to a Google Drive document. Copy and
paste the link of that Google document into the Nomination Form. Change the Sharing Settings of your
document give FrogAsia access by setting it as “Anyone with the link - can edit”.
6. To submit a video file, please upload the video to YouTube, then copy and paste the YouTube link into
the Nomination Form.

5.2 Nomination Process - How to Nominate

(i) A Participant can nominate any number of Nominees in all or any number of categories; and
(ii) A Participant can only nominate only one (1) Nominee once in each of the chosen category and
cannot send multiple applications or Nomination Forms of the same Nominee under the same chosen
category.

5.3 Submission of the Nomination Form does not guarantee the Participant the opportunity to
participate in the Awards. FrogAsia shall be entitled to reject or refuse participation by the Participant
for reasons, including (without limitation) where the Nomination Form is not complete or any provisions
in the Terms and Conditions is not fulfilled or adhered to by the Participant.

5.4 Without prejudice to Clause 5.3 above, the process of selection of the Nominees is at the sole
discretion of FrogAsia and even if the Nominee has been selected as a participant of the Awards,
FrogAsia is nevertheless not obliged to have the Nominee as a contestant in the Awards.


6. Award Categories 

Subject to Clause 4 above, the following are the Award categories that the Participant can choose to
nominate the Nominee under the Awards:-

A. Most Outstanding Frog Teacher 


Awarded to the Nominee who has demonstrated outstanding use of the Frog VLE for teaching and
learning

1. Nominee Criteria:
(i) The Nominee must have created at least 10 teaching and learning sites on the Frog VLE; and
(ii) The Nominee must have created and used at least 3 lesson plans incorporating the use of the
Frog VLE.

2. Participant Submission:
The 3 types of materials that a Participant needs to submit in order to nominate the Nominee for
shortlisting under this award category are as follows:
(i) A 300 word short description of how the Nominee used his / her teaching site in the classroom 
and the impact it had on his / her students; 
OR 
A 2-3 minute video on how the Nominee used his / her teaching site in the classroom and the 
impact it had on his / her students. 
(ii) 5 Screenshots in JPEG format consisting of teaching sites that were self-created, used and 
published by the Nominee; 
(iii) 1 lesson plan that involves the use of the Frog VLE as a teaching aid, verified and counter-signed 
by the head teacher of the Nominee’s school; and 
(iv) Name and contact details of 1 adult referee (must be a 1BestariNet ID holder) who can vouch for 
the Nominee. 
 

B. Best Use of Frog for Co-Curricular Activities 


Awarded to the Nominee who has championed and supported the use of Frog for co-curricular activities 
in a particular club or society. 
 
1. Nominee Criteria: 
The Nominee must have used the Frog VLE as part of a club or society’s project or for its administrative 
purposes. 
 
2. Participant Submission: 
The 2 types of materials that a Participant needs to submit in order to nominate the Nominee for 
shortlisting under this award category are as follows: 
(i) A 300 word short description of how the Nominee used Frog for co-curricular activities in a 
particular club or society; and 
(ii) Name and contact details of 1 adult referee (must be a 1BestariNet ID holder) who can vouch for 
Nominee. 
 

C. Most Innovative Use of Frog for Teaching and Learning 


Awarded to a Nominee who has demonstrated the most innovative use of Frog for education 
 
1. Nominee Criteria: 
 
Example: Ms. Tan uses the Frog VLE as part of her Peer Learning teaching method. She divides her 
students into groups and requires them to conduct an online search for information needed for the topic 
of the lesson. Her students have to compile their information into a Frog Site that includes various 
elements to engage their classmates. Students then have to project the Site on the class wall and present 
their findings on the Frog Site. 
 
2. Participant Submission: 
The 2 types of materials that a Participant needs to submit in order to nominate the Nominee for 
shortlisting under this award category are as follows: 
(i) 300 word short description of how the teacher (nominee) used Frog in the most innovative way, 
what the teacher’s objectives were and how the teacher achieved those objectives with his / her 
innovative use of Frog 
OR 
2-3 minute video narrating and showing how the teacher (nominee) used Frog in the most 
innovative way, what the teacher’s objectives were and how the teacher (nominee) 
achieved those objectives with his / her innovative use of Frog; and 
(ii) Name and contact details of 1 adult referee (must be a 1BestariNet ID holder) who can vouch for 
the Teacher. 
 

D. Most Inspiring Teacher 


Awarded to a Nominee who has gone the extra mile for his / her students, fellow teachers and school 
 
1. Participant Submission: 
The 2 types of materials that a Participant needs to submit in order to nominate the Nominee for 
shortlisting under this award category are as follows: 
 
(i) A 300 word short description of how this Nominee has inspired you and give an example of an 
occasion or incident when this teacher demonstrated inspiring leadership or service; 
OR 
 A 2 to 3 minute video (mp4, flv, avi) of how this Nominee has inspired you and give an example of an 
occasion or incident when this Nominee demonstrated inspiring leadership or service; and 
(ii) Name and contact details of 1 adult referee (must be a 1BestariNet ID holder) who can vouch for the 
Nominee. 
 

E. Best use of the Chromebook for Teaching and Learning with Frog 


Awarded to the Nominee who has shown the best use of the Chromebook in his / her classroom lessons 
 
1. Nominee Criteria: 
Teacher must be an active user of the Frog VLE on the Google Chromebook 
 
2. Participant Submission: 
The 2 types of materials that a Participant needs to submit in order to nominate the Nominee for 
shortlisting under this award category are as follows: 
 
(i) A 300 word short description of how this Nominee uses the Chromebook for teaching and 
learning in the classroom and the impact it has created in the classroom 
OR 
A 2 to 3 minute video (mp4, flv, avi) showing how this Nominee uses the Chromebook for 
teaching and learning in the classroom and the impact it has created in the classroom; and
(ii) Name and contact details of 1 adult referee (must be a 1BestariNet ID holder) who can vouch for 
teacher (nominee) 
 

F. Best Use of ‘Google Apps for Education’ in Teaching and Learning 


Awarded to the Nominee who has shown the best use of ‘Google Apps for Education’ in his / her 
classroom lessons. 
 
Example: Ms. Tan uses Google Docs for her lesson activities. Students are asked to break into groups and 
collaborate their reflections of the lesson on a shared Google Doc. Ms. Tan gives her feedback on their 
critical thinking skills reflected in their writing as well as their grammatical use of the English language. 
 
1. Nominee Criteria: 
Teacher must be actively using 'Google Apps for Education' as well as the Frog VLE 
 
Note: By “active use” it means using more than one app under the ‘Google Apps for Education’ 
list (Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Calendar, Google Slides, Picasa, Gmail with Yes ID) for at 
least 5 lessons a week across any / all teaching subjects. 
 
2. Participant Submission: 
The 2 types of materials that a Participant needs to submit in order to nominate the Nominee for 
shortlisting under this award category are as follows: 
 
(i) A 300 word short description of how this teacher uses ‘Google Apps for Education’ in the classroom 
and the impact it has created in the teaching and learning process 
OR 
A 2 to 3 minute video (mp4, flv, avi) of how this teacher uses ‘Google Apps for Education’ in 
the classroom and the impact it has created in the teaching and learning process; and 
(ii) Name and contact details of 1 adult referee (must be a 1BestariNet ID holder) who can vouch for 
Nominee. 
 

G. Best Application of ‘Anytime, Anywhere’ Learning 


Awarded to the teacher who has shown the best application of the Google Chromebook with Frog that 
enables students to learn anytime, anywhere 
 
1. Nominee Criteria: 
Teacher must be an active user of the Frog VLE and also use a Chromebook with 4G connectivity outside 
the classroom 
 
2. Participant Submission: 
The 2 types of materials that a Participant needs to submit in order to nominate the Nominee for 
shortlisting under this award category are as follows: 
(i) A 300 word short description of how this teacher has been an active user of the Frog VLE and also 
enables student learning using Chromebooks with 4G connectivity outside the classroom 
OR 
A 2 to 3 minute video (mp4, flv, avi) of how this teacher has been an active user of the Frog VLE and also 
enables student learning using Chromebooks with 4G connectivity outside the classroom; and 
(ii) Name and contact details of 1 adult referee (must be a 1BestariNet ID holder) who can vouch for 
teacher (nominee) 
 

H. Special Merit 


Awarded to Nominees to recognise their initiative and dedication to education in Malaysia based on 
FrogAsia's sole and absolute discretion. 
 
1. Participant Submission: 
The 2 types of materials that a Participant needs to submit in order to nominate the Nominee for 
shortlisting under this award category are as follows: 
 
(i) A 300-word description of why applicant thinks this Nominee deserves to be given a Special 
Merit Award e.g. He / she stays back after school to tutor students on a voluntary basis. 
OR 
A 2 to 3 minute video (mp4, flv, avi) of why applicant think this Nominee deserves to be given a 
Special Merit Award e.g. He / she stays back after school to tutor students on a voluntary basis; 
and 
(ii) A photograph of the Nominee. 
 

7. Winning selection process 

7.1 From 17 June 2014 - 30 June 2014 FrogAsia’s panel of judges will select the best Nominee per 
category from the list of Nominees submitted by the Participants. Each category shall have only one (1) 
winner (“Winner”), with the exception of the Special Merit category. Winners will be announced by 30 
June 2014. For avoidance of doubt, the Special Merit Award Winners (which shall have no limitation as 
to the number of Winners) will also be selected by FrogAsia panel of judges. 
 
7.2 FrogAsia’s decisions on all matters relating to the Awards including without limitation, the selection 
of Nominees, the best Nominees from the list of Nominees and the Winners for ALL categories under 
the Awards (including the conduct of the Awards and/or any resolutions made) shall be final and 
absolute and binding on all Nominees and/or Winners. No discussion, correspondence, enquiry, appeal 
or challenge in respect of any decision of FrogAsia will be entertained. 
 
7.3 The Participant, Nominees and/or Winners shall not dispute nor make any oral or written 
complaints, public announcements or statements on the same whether during or after the Awards. 

8. Contest prizes

* Winner also gets a possible opportunity to be a presenter at the Leaps of Knowledge Conference, KL in 
December 2014 (workshop/ booth/ etc.) but this is subject to FrogAsia’s sole discretion. 
 
(ii) Cash prize of RM3000.00 
● Best Use of Frog for Co-Curricular Activities 
● Most Innovative Use of Frog 
 
(iii) Pamper Kit worth RM1000.00 
● Most Inspiring Teacher 
 
(iv) Samsung 4G Chromebook (x1) + Nexus7 (x1) 
● Best Use of the Chromebook for Teaching and Learning 
● Best Use of ‘Google Apps for Education’ in Teaching and Learning 
● Best Application of 'Anytime, Anywhere' Learning 
 
(v) Frog Teacher Award certificates 
● Special Merit (open to more than one deserving recipient, awarded based on FrogAsia’s 
discretion) 
 
(vi) In addition to their respective category prizes, all Winners each will receive 
• one (1) voucher worth RM200 for free basic medical check-up at iHeal, Mid Valley Megamall, KL. 
• one (1) free subscription for one (1) year to The Star e-paper; and 
• one (1) VIP ticket to the Leaps of Knowledge Conference, KL in December 2014. 
 
All Contest prizes shall be subject to FrogAsia’s and its affiliates, authorized dealers/distributors, 
sponsors, agents, suppliers of the prize(s) respective terms and conditions. 
 

9. Announcement and notification of winners 

Winners will be contacted by 30 June 2014 and names of Winners will be announced on FrogAsia’s social 
media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Google+) and engagement portals (Blog, Community Site, The 
Pond). 
 

10. Delivery of prizes 

10.1 From 1 July 2014 - 30 July 2014 prizes will be delivered to the Winners by a representative of 
FrogAsia at the Winner’s school or through postal service. 
 
10.2 This timeframe is dependent on the availability of both parties and may be extended if needed 
at FrogAsia’s sole discretion. 
10.3 The school leadership team of the Winner may choose to hold an internal prize-giving ceremony 
event where a FrogAsia representative may attend to officially award the Winner. If such a 
school should choose to hold any such event, the event will need to be organised entirely by the 
school at its own costs and FrogAsia shall not be responsible or be obliged to organising any 
such event on behalf of the school. 
 

11. Exclusions: 

All Awards prizes are given and accepted on an 'as is' basis and entirely at the risk of the 
relevant Winners. FrogAsia makes no warranty, whether express or implied, as to the condition or state 
of the prizes. FrogAsia does not guarantee the availability of any of the prizes thereof and if any prizes 
(or part of any prizes) is unavailable, FrogAsia, in its discretion, reserves the right to replace and/or 
substitute the Prizes with any other prize of similar value and/or specification as determined by FrogAsia 
at its sole discretion. All prizes are strictly not transferable, assignable, exchangeable or redeemable by 
the Winners in any other form or manner (including for cash, cash value, colour or any other prize) other 
than specified by FrogAsia. Acceptance of the prize shall constitute a release and discharge of FrogAsia 
by the Winner from any and all liability, claims, demands, causes of action, and/or damages, whether 
known or unknown, which the Winner may have, of any nature whatsoever, arising out of or relating to: 
(i) the Awards, (ii) personal injury and/or property damage, theft or loss suffered by the Winner as a 
result of the use and/or enjoyment of the prize, and/or (iii) any tax liabilities in relation to the Awards, 
prize and/or use or enjoyment of the same. FrogAsia shall not be held liable for (i) any delay in 
performing or partial/total failure to perform any of its obligations to the Winners under the Awards if 
such delay or failure is caused by circumstances beyond the reasonable control of FrogAsia, its affiliates, 
authorized dealers/distributors, sponsors, agents, suppliers of the prize(s), including without limitation 
delays, changes, disruptions, cancellations, diversions or substitutions howsoever caused including 
without limitation as a result of war, terrorist action or threatened terrorist action, strikes, hostilities, 
civil commotions, accidents, fire, flood or natural catastrophes or (ii) from any loss, damage to property, 
injury, or death resulting from or related to participant’s entrance to or inability to participate in the 
Awards, or the use, misuse or inability to use the prize or any portion thereof. 

12. Unconditional Agreement. 

Acceptance of the prize constitutes the Winner's unconditional 
agreement and permission to FrogAsia and its agencies to use the Winner's Nomination Form and all 
materials / content submitted pursuant to Clause 6 above including the Winner’s name, video footage, 
voices, photograph and/or likeness for purposes of advertising, editorial, promotional, marketing, trade 
and/or other purposes without further compensation and notice, unless prohibited by law. FrogAsia and 
its affiliates, sponsors, agents and supplier of the prize(s) fully reserves its rights to such forms of 
publicity and publication. All personal data that is collected and used in accordance with FrogAsia’s 
Personal Data Protection Notice for YTL Corporation Berhad Group. 

13. Laws: 

The Awards shall in all respects be governed by the laws of Malaysia and by entering the 
Awards, Participants and Nominees submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia. 

14. Modifications: 

FrogAsia reserves the right to at any time, add to, delete, vary or amend the terms 
and conditions herein or change or modify any aspect of this Awards, in whole or in part at any time and 
from time to time and at its sole discretion without notice and without liability to the Participants 
and/or Nominees or any other party. Without prejudice to the aforesaid, FrogAsia reserves the right to 
cancel, terminate or suspend the Awards at any time before or during the Awards Period with due 
notice but without any liability or compensation whatsoever. In the event of such cancellation, 
termination or suspension of this Awards, FrogAsia may at its sole and absolute discretion choose not to 
award the prizes in respect of the Awards or choose not to select any Winner from all the qualified 
Nomination Forms/entries received prior to such cancellation, termination or suspension of the Awards. 

15. Disruption of Awards. 

Without prejudice to Clause 14 above, if for any reason the Awards is not 
capable of running as planned or is disrupted for reasons due to and including without limitation 
network failure, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, 
technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of FrogAsia or any party responsible for the 
running of any aspect of the Awards which corrupts or affects the administration or proper conduct of 
the Awards, FrogAsia reserves all rights in Clause 14 above and further reserves the right at its sole and 
absolute discretion to disqualify any individual or party who tampers or cheat with the processes of the 
Awards and/or its mechanics and FrogAsia may take any action (including legal action) against such 
individual or party. FrogAsia shall not accept any responsibility for Nomination Form and its attached 
materials (submitted pursuant to Clause 6 above) that is lost, delayed, misdirected undelivered or 
damaged. FrogAsia shall not be responsible for technical errors in telecommunications networks, 
internet access or otherwise preventing entry to the Awards. 

16. Disclosure Rights:

By entering this Awards, all Participants and Nominees hereby grant to FrogAsia 
express permission as well as a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to publish, print, 
reproduce, disseminate or share their respective entry, likeness and identity (excluding any sensitive 
personal information as defined by the Personal Data Protection Act 2010) for editorial, advertising, 
promotional, marketing or other purposes, without further compensation, for an unlimited period of 
time, in any of FrogAsia’s publications, in any form or any media, whether for public consumption or 
otherwise, unless prohibited by law. 

17. Disqualification and/or Rejection of Entries: 

FrogAsia reserves the right to reject any Nomination 
Form / entry at their sole and absolute discretion on the grounds that such Nomination Form / entry is 
incomplete, inappropriate, offensive, defamatory, plagiarised, repugnant to good taste and/or 
sensibilities, insensitive or in any way inconsistent with the spirit and objectives of the Awards. For the 
avoidance of doubt, the foregoing is not meant to limit or curtail the rights of FrogAsia, who may also 
reject a Nomination Form / entry without having to assign any reasons whatsoever. Participants and 
Nominees accept that a decision to disqualify and/or reject a Nomination Form / entry shall be final and 
not subject to appeal. 

18. Judging Criteria and Judging Process: 

FrogAsia reserves the sole and absolute discretion to 
determine the Winners of the Awards, which will be determined in accordance with the winning process 
mentioned above. The judges' decision shall be final and no appeals or disputes will be entertained. 
Subject to YTLC’s rights to replace or cancel a Winner as provided herein under all or any one of the 
Awards categories, results once announced are deemed to be final and binding. 

19. General Indemnification: 

Participants and/or Nominees shall indemnify FrogAsia against all and any 
costs, expenses, damages, liability or injury (whether physical in nature or against the reputation of any 
party) incurred by FrogAsia, arising out of or relating to the Participant’s and/or the Nominees entrance 
in the Awards, the Participants, Nominees and Winners acceptance, use or misuse of prizes, including 
but not limited to any of the Participant and the Nominees acts, omissions, statements, publications 
whatsoever as may be in breach of any law or legal rights, as the case may be. 

20. Third Party’s Rights and Indemnification. 

By participating in this Awards, the Participant and 
Nominee warrants that all personal details, answers, responses and/or entries submitted in the Awards 
are the Participant’s and/or Nominee’s own information are true and/or accurate. Participants and / or 
Nominees agree to indemnify and keep indemnified FrogAsia against all claims, losses, damages and / or 
expenses whatsoever arising from any infringement or violation of any third party’s rights and 
intellectual property rights in relation to the submission of the Nomination Form and the materials in 
the Awards. 

21. Survivability of Terms: 

Any delay, waiver, non-enforcement, modification, amendment, withdrawal 
or substitution of any term or condition contained herein shall not affect the operation of the other 
terms or conditions so affected by such a waiver, non-enforcement, modification, amendment, 
withdrawal or substitution and which shall remain in full force and effect. 

22. Non-compliance: 

Failure to comply with the Awards Terms & Conditions herein or terms of the 
Awards’ details, rules, regulations, instructions and methods herein will result in disqualification of the 
relevant Participant’s Nomination Form and his / her Nominees.
